Short Hair Vegetable-Tanned Sheepskin Rug

Soft and comfy, sheepskin fibers impart warm comfort. It makes a great playroom rug. These sheepskins are soft and luxurious and feel great under your feet. Dry clean is the suggested method for cleaning, but we have found that natural cleaning methods for washing wool produces suitable results.

Our sheepskins are sourced from US sheep and are tanned in the US using tree bark extracts from Argentina. This is one of the oldest methods of tanning which takes a bit longer (it takes three days to absorb) but is necessary for a natural product free of any heavy metals (the current standard is to tan skins using the chrome method which uses heavy metals). The vegetable tanning method has been used for centuries to create the natural wool sheepskin/blanket typically used under saddles. Since this has short hair, it can be used with infants or to add warmth and cushion as a mattress pad.
